The popularity of linoleum is based on an affordable price and ease of installation. You can cover it yourself without attracting qualified specialists. The base can be any flat surface, but most often use a concrete screed. This type of subfloor is used in the construction of residential complexes, office buildings, public institutions and shopping centers. In each case, choose your own type of flooring, but in most cases, laying linoleum on a concrete floor is made according to the same rules. The apartment can lay household and semi-commercial flooring, in public buildings with a large number of visitors - only commercial linoleum.

Preparation of the floor under the linoleum begins with its cleaning of debris and analysis of the surface condition. It is important that there be no height differences: potholes, protrusions, deep cracks. You can not lay the linoleum on an uneven floor - this will lead to premature wear. Recesses of a concrete floor of 1-2 mm per running meter are considered insignificant, they are sealed with putty. Small protrusions are removed with a special tool. If the drops are more significant, then it is worth leveling the base with the help of self-leveling mixtures. This can be done by hand, since the compositions are not very complex in work.

Among the advantages of self-leveling floors:

  • the ability to choose a mixture for pouring the screed of optimal thickness;
  • no need to use professional tools and equipment;
  • short terms of strength and drying;
  • perfect surface finish;
  • high strength characteristics.

Laying the flooring is carried out after drying and curing of the screed.

Lay linoleum on a concrete floor at normal humidity and temperature not lower than + 18ºС. Before starting work rolls roll out and allow the floor to lie down for alignment.

How to lay linoleum? If there are no joints, then the location of the web can be any. In a large room will have to dock pieces, in this case, the seam should be located in the direction of light falling from the windows.

After completion of the alignment process, they start cutting, this stage is especially important for rooms of complex planning. Pre-trimming is recommended in which at least 10 cm of stock is left on each side of the web. Pre-carry out the fitting pattern, if you plan to dock the paintings. To carry out these works you will need a knife on linoleum and a tape measure, and for gluing you need a brush, glue or mastic.

Property owners who are thinking about how to lay linoleum on a concrete floor qualitatively and reliably must choose between glue and mastic. These compounds can be used both for partial fixation and for complete gluing of the floor covering to the base. Among the advantages of mastic - high quality waterproofing, as they make these adhesives based on bitumen, synthetic rubber or resin. They are recommended to lay a single-layer linoleum without base, such material is used in hallways, bathrooms, bathrooms, public places. Among their shortcomings - low environmental friendliness, especially characteristic of mastic based on bitumen. Among the advantages is a low consumption of mastic, since in order to glue the linoleum it is necessary to apply only 0.4 mm of the composition.

When working with your hands most often the question arises about how to put linoleum on a concrete floor using double-sided tape. This material is used for partial fixation of the floor covering. After completion of the preparatory work it is necessary to remove the protective tape on one side of the adhesive tape and stick it around the perimeter. If the room has a sufficiently large size, it is necessary to apply the tape in the center and in the most loaded places. After this stage of work is completed, linoleum should be spread, fixation starts from the center to the edges of the canvas. First one side fits, then the other half. Leveling is carried out from the center - it is important to do everything carefully, without missing large areas of adhesive tape.

Laying on mastic or glue

After the choice is completed - how to glue the linoleum to the concrete floor, you need to prepare the tools for the job. The technology of work is the same, so you need the same type of devices that can greatly facilitate the work. Depending on the consistency of the adhesive composition, either a roller or a notched trowel is selected. It is easy to do the work with your own hands, after the preparatory work the linoleum creeps and aligns. If one panel is used, then its half is wrapped and glue is applied on the base. Linoleum spreads on the laid composition and leveled off from the center, after which the second half is rolled up and the work is repeated.

When laying such popular materials as laminate and wood flooring, all manufacturers strongly recommend the use of the substrate. The question arises - how to put linoleum on a concrete floor - with or without a substrate? Roll flooring is available with a heat insulating base, which actually plays the role of the substrate. If this is not enough, the floor seems to be cold, and the floor is hard, then a cork backing can be used. Its installation is carried out on a primed concrete floor, adhesive compositions recommended by the manufacturer are used. It is not recommended to use as a chipboard or fiberboard substrate, these plates can swell at high humidity, which will lead to deformation of linoleum.
